A Brief History of the  Daugherty Street Church Of Christ

The Daugherty Street Church of Christ is an heir of the Restoration Movement,
a 19th century effort to reclaim the life and vitality of the 1st century church.
We believe that serving God as Christians involves going back to the source of authority and looking forward from that point.
Churches of Christ take the message of God's word, the bible, as the source of authority for all we are and do.

The Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland Texas traces it congregational history to a group
of local Christians who began meeting about 1913 in the old County Court room.
From this group came plans for the first permanent building which was completed in 1919
at the present location on the corner of Daugherty street and Plumber streets.
A.D.  Dabney and H.B. Horn were the first elders and Tom Harrell, Joe Burkett and H.E. Lawrence were the first Deacons.
About 1986 the church added a new auditorium and fellowship hall.

Today the Daugherty Street Church of Christ goes in many directions including worship,
Bible study for all ages, local and worldwide evangelism efforts and programs for ages ranging
from children to senior saints.
Our goal through these programs is to deepen personal relationships to God,
enhance individual and congregational spiritual growth and to see the gospel is preached to all who will listen.
Our ultimate goal is to help one another achieve an everlasting eternity in heaven!
